Remnants of former Tropical Storm Enrique will pass north of the islands this weekend, bringing afternoon showers to some areas and slightly humid conditions Sunday, the National Weather Service said Friday.

A high-surf advisory is in effect for all islands. South-facing shores of islands will see high surf starting Saturday morning, with 6- to 10-foot surf Saturday, continuing to early Monday morning, gradually diminishing, the Weather Service said.

Light to moderate tradewinds will stick around Saturday but leave Sunday, according to the Weather Service.

On Sunday there could be an increased chance of showers in leeward and interior areas.

Woman charged in theft of truck from Kona lot

Hawaii island police arrested and charged a 31-year-old Pahoa woman Thursday in connection with the theft of a pickup truck with a handgun inside from a Kailua-Kona parking lot.

On July 9 a 51-year-old Kailua-Kona man reported that his truck was stolen from a supermarket lot on Palani Road. A registered, unloaded handgun was reportedly in the truck.

During the investigation, police recovered the truck and handgun and identified a suspect, Ashley Faustina.

Faustina was arrested Thursday in Hilo and charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, first-degree theft and violating terms of release on bail. Bail was set at $60,000.
