Hula’s cafe bash: Hula’s Bar and Lei Stand is hosting a send-off party for Jasmine Rose Mercier, who’s been helping feed satisfied patrons at the bar’s Cafe by Ginniberries. Mercier, one of the cooks, is relocating to Boston, and the club’s ohana is sending her off local style — with food, drink and music. From 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. enjoy entertainment by DJ 720 and Hula’s Hot Gogos. Guests are requested to wear black or white. Back by popular demand: The Kahala Hotel and Resort’s previous Blues, Bourbon and Barbecue event was so popular that the hotel is bringing it back. From 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Seaside Grill, guests can dine on Crab Polenta Lollipops, Pistachio Crusted Boneless Leg of Lamb, Oven-Roasted Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin and more. Bourbons include Basil Hayden’s; Booker’s; Jim Beam Bonded, Devil’s Cut, Rye and Original; Knob Creek’s Single Barrel Reserve and Smoked Maple; and Maker’s Mark Bourbon and Bourbon 46. Benefit for Hawaii’s Wounded Warriors: Hilton Hawaiian Village, 2005 Kalia Road, is holding its Great Waikiki Beer Festival from Aug. 28 through Aug. 30. The event begins with "Taste of the Aina," a farm-to-table dinner featuring five courses prepared by executive chef Charles Charbonneau. The menu includes Big Island Summer Salad, Inamona Charred Ahi, Shinsato Pork, Hawai’i Rancher’s Strip Loin and Kona Brewing Wailua Wheat Carrot Cake, paired with beers chosen by local brewers who will be there to talk story. Entertainment will be provided by Kamuela. The dinner runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 28 in the Rooftop Garden. Cost is $120 per person.
From 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 29, more than 100 beers will be available for tasting at the Celebration of 100 Beers being held on the Great Lawn fronting Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. Tickets are $80 presale, $90 at the door and $100 to enter at 5 p.m. Military ID card holders can receive 15 percent off prices. The ticket includes 10 4-ounce beer samples and three food tickets. Dishes include Bavarian Bratwurst in a Hoagie Bun, Chili Kettle Chip Nachos, Pork and Jalapeno Cheese Tamale Bites. Anuhea, Backwards Shaka and Kailua Bay Buddies will provide the entertainment.
To close the festival, Tropics Bar & Grill is holding a Rehab Beer Brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 that features $4 beers and bloody marys. No reservation required.
