All four of quarterback Marcus Mariota’s exhibition games with the Tennessee Titans will be shown locally, beginning with Friday’s opener.
KHON general manager Kristina Lockwood said The CW Network will show the Titans’ preseason opener at Atlanta delayed at 5 p.m. (channels 93/1093 on Oceanic and 2/1002 on Hawaiian Telcom).
The NFL Network is scheduled to show it live at 1 p.m. (203/1203 on Oceanic and 88/1088 on Hawaiian Telcom).
“For me it’s exciting and to be able to kind of share that moment with people that got me there will be a cool experience,” Mariota told the Nashville Post.
The Titans’ Aug. 23 game with the Rams will be shown live at 2 p.m. on KHON. It is a Fox national telecast.
Both the Titans’ Aug. 28 game at Kansas City and Sept. 3 game against Minnesota will be shown delayed at 5 p.m. on CW, Lockwood said.
Lockwood said soon after the Heisman Trophy winner from Saint Louis School was drafted by Tennessee, KHON contacted its “sister station” in Nashville, WKRN, which holds the rights to the Titans’ non-national exhibition games. “We wanted to secure those games,” Lockwood said.
Other local stations also looked into the possibilities but WKRN and KHON are both owned by Media General.
Meanwhile, KFVE general manager John Fink said his station will carry 16 games in the preseason. Friday KFVE will air the New York Giants at Cincinnati live at 1:30 p.m. and St. Louis at Oakland on delay at 5 p.m.
