Two men and two women pleaded not guilty Monday in Circuit Court to charges stemming from the death of a 65-year-old Whitmore Village man two months ago.
Angelita Rasa, Shaun Branco-Taguchi, Shane Rodrigues and Jessica Samson were arraigned by closed-circuit video from Oahu Community Correctional Center.
Their trial is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 19 before Circuit Judge Colette Garibaldi.
Rasa, 26, who has no local address, and Branco-Taguchi, 29, are charged with second-degree murder. They are being held at OCCC in lieu of $1 million bail. Rasa is also charged with three weapon violations and credit card theft. Branco-Taguchi also is charged with arson and four weapon violations.
Rodrigues, 30, is charged with being an accomplice to murder, two weapon violations and arson, and is being held at OCCC unable in lieu of $500,000 bail. Samson, 26, is charged with arson. Her bail is $25,000. She also is being held at OCCC.
The suspects were indicted by an Oahu grand jury Aug. 11 for their involvement in the death of William Aki Jr., 65, whose body was found just after midnight June 24 at his Kaniahe Street home. Police went to the home after Aki’s car was found burning in Makua.
