The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 24-year-old man who died after falling 14 stories while trying to stop a teen from jumping off a dorm building ledge at the University of Hawaii.
The Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday that Thomas Bennett died of multiple blunt trauma.
Bennett was trying to help a 19-year-old man, who was suicidal, when both fell from the Hale Wainani dormitory at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
The teen remained in critical condition at a hospital Tuesday.
UH spokesman Dan Meisenzahl said the two men who fell were not students. A student who lived at the dorm had visitors early Sunday, including the two men.
Prints identify woman found dead in Hilo
A woman who was found dead in Hilo on Friday has been identified.
Hawaii island police said Monday that 49-year-old Danielle Caron, who had no permanent address, was identified through fingerprints.
Caron was found dead off Kamehameha Avenue. Police said there were obvious signs of foul play. Video footage from the area led to a second-degree murder charge against a 35-year-old Shiloh, Ill., man.
Missing OCCC inmate captured, returned
Police captured a missing work furlough inmate at about 4 p.m. Tuesday and returned him to the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
The Department of Public Safety said DeJohn Williams failed to return to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center on Friday evening. He left the center that morning and was scheduled to return at 6:30 p.m.
