Firefighters responded to a two-alarm building fire in Punchbowl late Saturday night.
Ten fire companies responded to the 11:31 p.m. alarm and arrived at 1980 Puowaina Drive five minutes later to find a three-story multifamily dwelling with the top level engulfed in fire, fire officials said.
One woman was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape without injury.
Firefighters brought the fire under control by 12:23 a.m. and fully extinguished it at 12:52 a.m.
The damage estimate was $200,000 for the structure and $30,000 for the contents, said fire Capt. David Jenkins. The top section of this hillside terraced home is considered to be a total loss and is a collapse hazard, he said.
No injuries were reported. The cause is undetermined.
Elsewhere, electrical arcing was determined to be the cause of a fire just before 9 p.m. Friday at the Judd Building, 851 Fort Street Mall.
Flooding due to heavy rain could have been a contributing factor, Jenkins said. Damage was estimated at $21,000.
