Heavy rain and lightning over Windward Oahu on Friday evening forced the postponement of Kahuku’s homecoming game against Castle.
The junior varsity game was halted with 6:51 left in the first quarter with Kahuku leading 7-0. The games were rescheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. The varsity game between No. 4 Kahuku (4-0, 3-0 OIA Red) and Castle (2-3, 2-2) will follow the completion of the JV game.
Lightning continued to flash at times as Kahuku players and fans dispersed after the announcement.
Friday’s postponement marks the second time this season a game was delayed due to inclement weather. Two games were suspended due to rain and lightning on Aug. 22, Waialua at Pearl City and Kapolei at Kailua. Those games were completed the following Monday.
