A vehicle struck and killed a 48-year-old Wailuku man crossing Kaahumanu Avenue Sunday night, Maui police reported.
Terence John Moniz Moniz was not in a crosswalk when a Ford Edge SUV struck him at 8:21 p.m. Sunday about a 10th of a mile east of Kahului Beach Road, police said.
Paramedics took him in critical condition to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he died.
The vehicle, driven by a 73-year-old Kihei man, was traveling east on Kaahumanu Avenue when it hit the pedestrian, who had “darted across the roadway,” police said.
The driver was uninjured.
Police hunt suspect after bank robbery
Honolulu police are looking for a man who robbed Territorial Savings Bank’s Pearlridge branch Monday afternoon.
At about 1:10 p.m., the man entered the bank at 94-084 Kamehameha Highway, approached a teller and demanded money. He fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to a CrimeStoppers and Honolulu Police Department news release.
The suspect is described as in his 20s, 5-feet-2-inches tall and weighing 120 to 130 pounds. He has black curly hair. He was wearing a dark shirt, light blue denim long pants, light-colored cap, aviator sunglasses and a black fanny pack.

2 teens arrested in robbery near Kualoa
A 26-year-old woman told police two teenagers robbed her near Kualoa Ranch on Sunday.
The incident occurred at 9:35 a.m. on Kamehameha Highway.
Police arrested two suspects — a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man — about an hour later on Puakenikeni Road in Kaaawa on suspicion of second-degree robbery. The 19-year-old also was arrested for allegedly driving without a license.
The boy was turned over to Family Court.
Moped rider hurt after hitting parked car
A 67-year-old man was in serious condition Monday after the moped he was operating struck a parked car in Kapolei, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. Saturday at 9110 Yorktown St.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital.
