Honolulu Fire Department and Coast Guard rescue personnel searched Monday evening for an 18-year-old man who was swept out to sea near Halona Blowhole Lookout.
The man was last seen about 6:20 p.m. wearing black shorts and black shoes.
HFD responded with helicopter, jet ski and rescue boat crews, which searched unsuccessfully until sunset. The Coast Guard dispatched a 45-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Honolulu, an MH-Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point, and the crew of the 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Kittiwake to assist the extensive search.
A full search will resume Tuesday at first light.
