Inclement weather Saturday forced firefighters to hike about 4 miles to help two adults and two children stuck in the Koolau Mountains above Pearl City.
Firefighters received a call from the hikers after they ran into trouble on Waimano Trail, off Waimano Home Road, about 4:10 p.m., said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Kendall Ching.
No injuries were reported, but the hikers were unable to come out of the trail on their own.
Ching said firefighters could not use a helicopter to reach the party because of the rainy weather.
Firefighters trekked to the hikers and guided them back out.

Suspect charged in gunpoint robbery
A 34-year-old man was charged Friday with numerous offenses in connection with the gunpoint robbery of a soccer mom at Kapiolani Park.
Phillip Osuna, of no local address, was charged with first-degree robbery, kidnapping, second-degree identity theft, second-degree attempted theft, and other personal information and credit card offenses.
He was still in police custody Saturday afternoon in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Osuna was arrested Thursday at the Pacific Marina Inn near Honolulu Airport after numerous tips to the CrimeStoppers Honolulu program, which released surveillance photos of a man seen using a stolen credit card in Haleiwa.
Police said the gunpoint robbery occurred about 5:20 p.m. Monday as a 46-year-old woman was waiting in her car while her daughter practiced at Kapiolani Park.
Osuna allegedly entered the woman’s vehicle from the passenger side, showed her a handgun and demanded her belongings.
The man forced the woman to drive him around Kapiolani Park and eventually ordered her to stop the car before fleeing with her jewelry, purse and cellphone, a Hawaii Youth Soccer Association representative said.
About a week before the incident, Osuna was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said. He was in custody for a probation violation and released by a state judge under his own recognizance.

Police arrested Chee at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center.
