While the Los Angeles Lakers occupy the Stan Sheriff Center for training camp this week, both University of Hawaii teams won’t be far behind in opening their practices.
Eran Ganot will hold his first official practice as the Rainbow Warriors’ head coach on Friday. Ganot takes over a program that went 22-13 and ended its season in the Big West tournament championship game. Ganot completed his coaching staff this week with the addition of John Montgomery and the ‘Bows welcome four newcomers to a roster featuring five players who started at least 10 games last season.
The ‘Bows have a little more than a month before an exhibition game against Chaminade and open the season Nov. 13 vs. Montana State.
Laura Beeman, the reigning Big West coach of the year, leads the Rainbow Wahine into their first full practice on Monday evening. The Wahine are coming off a 23-9 season and look to defend their Big West regular-season title.
The Wahine play UH-Hilo in an exhibition on Oct. 28 and open at Grand Canyon on Nov. 13.
