The Cougars (4-4, 4-3 OIA Red) clinched the No. 3 seed in their division and will host Campbell in the first round of the OIA playoffs next week after beating the Mules (3-5, 3-4) in the first game played at Kaiser Stadium between the two schools.
Kaiser scored 22 unanswered points after Leilehua quarterback Kona Andres left the game in the second quarter.
Keoua Mahiko had two of Kaiser’s four interceptions and Keoni Pangan blocked a 32-yard field-goal try in the fourth quarter.
Parker Higgins rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown, and Mahiko caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Nic Tom, who was 8-for-17 for 103 yards.
Ty Keough had seven receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown for the Mules, who will host Moanalua next week. Leilehua held Kaiser’s Jensen McDaniel, who entered the week as the state’s leading rusher, to 39 yards on 25 carries.
