October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and businesses and their clientele are seeing plenty of pink. Sales of special and limited-edition pink items provide an easy way to help fund the search for the cure for breast cancer.

Nalukai designs honor breast cancer survivor

For Nalukai designer Tricia McCarthy, finding a cure for breast cancer is a year-round goal. Nalukai’s "Pretty in Pink Collection" was inspired by McCarthy’s sister-in-law, Laura, who overcame a two-time battle with breast cancer. A portion of sales benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Reyn Spooner introduces "Think Pink" collection

Reyn Spooner’s 2015 "Think Pink" collection features a men’s shirt ($94), sarong/scarf ($80), cosmetic bag ($18) and small eco-tote ($16) offeredin support of breast cancer awareness.

Hard Rock hosts PINKTOBER charity auction

Hard Rock Cafe Honolulu will host a PINKTOBER Art for a Cause charity lunch beginning at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at 280 Beachwalk Ave. Tickets are $25 for the event, which will also include a PINKTOBER unisex T-shirt and the opportunity to bid on the PINKTOBER Art for a Cause auction featuring a one-of-a-kind painted ukulele and coconut bras. Proceeds will benefit Kapi’olani Women’s Center, which provides comprehensive health services for women.

Accessories and sales for a cause at Tory Burch

At Tory Burch, 20 percent of the purchase of a special collection of pink items will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, up to a maximum of $35,000.

The items include York buckle totes ($245 to $295) and Kerrington accessories ranging from an iPhone 6 wristlet ($165) to a limited-edition gold and pink fretwork lipstick case ($35).

Limited-edition jewelry collection at Ann Taylor

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, Ann Taylor’s A.T. Cares Collection: Fall 2015 Edition will be available in Ann Taylor stores and at AnnTaylor.com through Dec. 31.

The collection includes a charm bracelet ($59.50) and necklace ($49.50) featuring emblems reflecting love, hope and endurance. Fifty percent of the purchase price of the limited-edition jewelry collection will support BCRF.

Radiation mark removal from Windward Medispa

Windward Medispa is offering services for patients and survivors of breast cancer this month, including free radiation mark removal. Patients must provide an official letter from their oncologist or radiologist approving the medispa procedure.

The free radiation mark removal will be done with the PicoSure laser, developed for tattoo removal. For cancer patients who receive radiation treatment, a small blue or black tattoo is applied on their skin to accurately target the affected area. For many survivors, that tattoo removal is a final step to full recovery.

Another treatment is an organic facial done by a licensed aesthetician certified and trained in oncology aesthetics. Regularly priced at $65, the treatment will be $45 for breast cancer patients.

Tea, snacks and pink chocolate at The Kahala

The Kahala Hotel & Resort is presenting Pink Afternoon Tea at The Veranda this month, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Hawaii affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The tea will be available from 2 to 5:30 p.m. daily through Oct. 31. On the menu will be tea sandwiches and sweet treats of raspberry macarons, pink-dipped truffles, guava cupcake bites and cranberry scones, with pink drink options as well.
