Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Service personnel rescued a 17-year-old boy who found himself in trouble Friday after he jumped off a cliff at Spitting Caves in Portlock.
The boy, who needed help after swallowing water, was brought to the Maunalua Bay boat ramp where he was treated by paramedics. He was then transported in stable condition to a hospital.
A 19-year-old man who was with the boy was able to make it back up the rocks on his own.
Ocean Safety officials are reminding the public not to jump off the cliff because strong ocean currents in the area make it difficult to get out.
Man arrested in attempted murder
Police arrested a 56-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a 27-year-old man in Kalihi late Thursday night.
The two got into an argument when the older man allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed the other man, police said. The victim’s condition was not available.
Police arrested the older man on suspicion of attempted murder at 11:05 p.m. Thursday.
Tips lead to arrest of alleged robber
Police received a tip that led to the Thursday arrest of one of four men who allegedly robbed a 19-year-old man at gunpoint Sunday.
At 12:30 a.m. Sunday the men drove up to a group of young people parked at a lookout point on Tantalus.
Two men got out of the vehicle demanding money, and one of them said he had a gun wrapped in a towel and allegedly threatened to shoot the teen if he didn’t comply.
The same suspect then allegedly demanded the keys to a moped belonging to the teen and fled on the moped.
The other suspects left in the vehicle.
Police received a tip Thursday saying a suspect was at the Kapahulu Groin. Police located the 22-year-old suspect and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery at 9:41 p.m. Thursday.
