Spin your most haunting tale of horror and the supernatural in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Today section’s annual Halloween Fiction Contest. Entries are limited to 650 words and must be original work never before published. The winner will receive a $250 cash prize, and their story will appear in the Today section Oct. 25. Second prize is $100.
A $50 cash prize will be awarded to the winners in separate categories for elementary and middle school students. Student entries are limited to 400 words and should include name, grade, school and contact information. Winners will be printed Oct. 31. The deadline for all entries is Oct. 16. One entry per person.
The contest is open to Hawaii residents only; Oahu Publications Inc. contributors, employees and their family members are not eligible. The judges’ decision is final. By entering the contest, you are granting the Honolulu Star-Advertiser a royalty-free license to use your story in print and online. Winners’ names and photos will appear in the Star-Advertiser.
