Parents all over Hawaii are sending their best wishes to Marcie and Ray Dela Cruz on their latest deliveries — which swelled their ranks from a threesome to a family of eight.
Perhaps they’re not exactly envious, though. The birth of quintuplets, joining their 2-year-old big brother, would be a daunting, life-changing event for any couple, with some exhausting responsibilities in store.
At some point in the misty future, things will get easier — no play dates required. The Dela Cruz kids will all look out for each other. And they will be Hawaii stars, for sure. Mom said she’s resolved to have fun with it all.
That’s the attitude to take — but there’s no escaping the cost. Purveyors of diapers, formula and All Things Baby:

Don’t downplay BB gun shooter
It seems implausible that no one out there knows the BB gun shooter or shooters responsible for at least a half-dozen cases on Oahu, first taking aim at a boy sitting at a bus stop on Sept. 22 and in the latest incident on Saturday, shattering a window of a tour bus traveling on the H-1 freeway near Aloha Stadium.
Honolulu police need the public’s help in solving these crimes.
Let’s not downplay the risk of a BB gun, which can cause serious injury.
So far the injuries suffered in the rash of cases have been superficial.
How unfortunate it would be if the recent attacks here were allowed to escalate.
