Gabbard’s nose bloodied in surf mishap

U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard injured her nose in a surfing accident Thursday morning at a surf spot in Waikiki known as Number Threes.

The 34-year-old congresswoman told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser in an email Thursday afternoon that she had sustained an injury and was bloody after she was struck by another surfer’s board. “Yes, it’s swollen and bloodied, but not broken. Other than that, I’m great,” she said.

Maui offers free destruction of hard drives

Maui County is offering a free drive-thru service to destroy and dispose of computer hard drives in the lower parking lot behind the Kalana o Maui County building from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

“This service is especially important because anyone can access your hard drive if you just throw it away,” said Jacob Verkerke, the county’s chief technology officer.
