Folks longing for a Lobster Dog or Truffle Cheese Fries need wait no longer. After shutting down two months ago, Hank’s Haute Dogs is reopening in new digs just a stone’s throw away from its old site in Kakaako, at 324 Coral St. The gourmet hot dog shop opened quietly Tuesday, with a grand opening Saturday.
With the new site comes the launch of “Hankfast” for the breakfast crowd. Available are two choices: the Breakfast Dog, a pork banger wrapped in egg and cheese and topped with tomato, and the early morning decadence of Breakfast Fries, topped in cheddar, sauteed onion, green pepper with garlic, poached egg and hollandaise sauce, plus a choice of optional toppings.
Chef/owner Henry “Hank” Adaniya rounds out his morning offerings with a coffee slush inspired by an espresso drink he enjoys when visiting Florence, Italy. The sweetened drink is light and airy with just a touch of creaminess from a topping of whipped cream.
The shop has also expanded its burger menu, with the third-pound beef patties now offered with add-ons including various cheeses, truffle-cheese sauce, bacon, avocado, sauteed herbed mushrooms and chili.
Among specials in the rotation are a foie gras/duck dog with dried fruit compote and truffle mustard; and a decadent rabbit dog, dressed with sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions and truffle-cheese sauce.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, with breakfast served until 11 a.m. weekdays and until noon weekends. Call 532-4265 or visit hankshautedogs.com.
