Phil Arkow, an expert on the link between animal cruelty and community violence, will give a talk at a luncheon sponsored by the Hawaiian Humane Society at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Willows.
Arkow is co-founder of the National Link Coalition, a violence prevention group. He teaches courses about animal abuse and human violence at the University of Florida, as well as animal-assisted therapy courses at Camden County College in New Jersey. His Hawaii lecture is titled “Why care about animals when faced with so much human suffering?”
