Handy app aids Honolulu bicyclists
Novice bicycle riders in Honolulu now have a free, user-friendly app that provides information on basic maintenance and repairs, routes for commuters and off-roaders alike, and a one-touch emergency phone number for bike-related advice.
The Honolulu Bikes app, which was developed by My City Bikes and local bike store Island Triathlon & Bike, downloads to your phone or tablet and serves as a resource you can take with you when you ride. My City Bikes is described as a national public health campaign for beginner cyclists across the United States, helping them with a simple mobile resource to inspire better, easier biking.
The maintenance section of the app is particularly helpful, providing videos on changing a tire, cleaning your bike chain and adjusting your seat for optimum comfort. Other sections explain bike safety for children, organized rides in Honolulu and how much water you need when temperatures rise.
Island Triathlon & Bike helped develop the app last year. App users can link to the store for advice from experts.
The Honolulu Bikes app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
