A moped rider was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Kalanianaole Highway in Aina Haina on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 2:45 p.m. between East Hind and West Hind drives.
Paramedics responding to the scene treated the injured moped rider — a man believed to be in his 20s — and took him to a hospital, according to an Emergency Medical Services report. He died at the hospital.
It was the second fatal moped accident on Oahu this year.
On Sept. 29, David Rodrigues, 51, of Waianae was traveling east on Farrington Highway when his moped hit a curb near the Kapolei Golf Course. He was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died.
Three other moped accidents left riders in critical or serious condition within a four-day period in September, prompting the city’s Emergency Medical Services Division to call for greater safety measures.
There have been more than 20 moped accidents on Oahu this year.
