The Thai and Laotian communities are gathering Saturday to celebrate the annual Loy Krathong Festival at Kapiolani Park Bandstand. The public is invited to enjoy Thai food, a cooking demonstration and more, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Loy Krathong is a festival of floating bowls, made of banana leaves, which hold items such as food, a candle, incense, a coin or flowers. They are assembled and then set afloat on the water with a prayer to ward off bad luck.
