Hawaii Pacific’s Jackson Groves and Brigham Young-Hawaii’s Jake McRae were named to the Pacific West Conference men’s soccer first team, announced Wednesday after a vote by league coaches.
McRae, a junior forward, also was named Newcomer of the Year. He scored a PacWest-best 14 goals this season.
Groves, a senior midfielder, scored one goal and was stellar on defense.
HPU forward Sven Koenig was named PacWest Freshman of the Year and made the second team. Teammate Javier Risco Garcia, a sophomore defender, also made the second team.
Making the third team were Sharks sophomore forward Josch Cuerten and junior midfielder Erik Kemsies.
Notre Dame de Namur’s Tyler Matas, a senior defender from Mililani High, made the first team. Teammate Jack Ewert, a senior midfielder from Pacific Buddhist Academy, was named to the second team.
