Hawaii has something to show for its efforts at the start of the early college basketball signing period for 2016.
Australian guard Matthew Owies followed through on his earlier oral commitment and put pen to paper on a National Letter of Intent with the Rainbow Warriors.
"Finally signed my NLI to the University of Hawaii … Super excited to be (a part) of such a great program," Owies tweeted early Wednesday.
The 6-foot Owies was a starting guard for Australia’s U-17 national team at the 2014 FIBA World Championships.
UH is expected to formally announce the signings of Owies and Long Beach Poly (Calif.) High senior guard Drew Buggs today.
The 6-3 Buggs held off signing for a day because his school was off for the Veterans Day holiday.
