A youthful seven-runner contingent will represent the University of Hawaii cross country team at the NCAA West Regional Championship on Friday in Seattle.
Four freshmen, a sophomore and two juniors are scheduled to run in the 6-kilometer race at Jefferson Park Golf Course. UH will be among 37 teams entered.
Sophomore Montana Martinez is the only UH runner to compete in the west regional and led the Wahine in their last three meets this season, including a 22nd-place finish at the Big West championships on Oct. 31. Martinez ran a 23:14.7 at last year’s regional and posted a career 6K best of 21:26.70 at the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 17.
Also competing for UH will be juniors Caitlyn Foss and Alli Cross and freshmen Camille Campos, Sabrina Sterbis, Haley Beaumont and Tristan Setzer.
