A 21-year-old Kalihi man was charged with assault after he allegedly attacked a taxicab driver in Nuuanu, causing the driver to crash, authorities said.
Ratana Taito was charged with third-degree assault and was released after posting $100 bail.
Police said the attack happened at about 3 a.m. Thursday while Taito was riding in the taxi. The 56-year-old driver crashed because of the assault, which left him with minor injuries. The vehicle crash was minor. Taito was arrested about an hour later at Nuuanu Avenue and Pauoa Road.
