A 6-year-old girl was in critical condition Tuesday after she was apparently run over by a golf cart in Ko Olina, city officials said.
The girl had seizures after the incident and was treated by an Emergency Medical Services crew that took her in critical condition to a hospital, according to the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.
An official said the girl, a tourist, fell out the back seat of a golf cart and was run over by a second golf cart on a sidewalk near rental units at Ko Olina Resort.
A Ko Olina spokeswoman said police were investigating the matter.
A police spokeswoman said the incident happened about 1:25 p.m. and that an “injured care for” case was opened.

Fallen power line blamed for Kahili blaze
A fire that destroyed three vehicles and damaged a building in Kalihi last week was started by a downed power line, firefighters said Tuesday.
The fire started at about 3:25 p.m. Friday near 1714 Mary St. and was brought under control in less than a half-hour.
Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said the cause was determined to be accidental and due to a downed power line. He said the resulting two-alarm fire caused $7,150 in damage to a building and destroyed three vehicles.
It was unknown why the power line fell.
Firefighters said the building next to the vehicles, which were parked on the street, was also damaged.
Darren Pai, a spokesman for Hawaiian Electric Co., said in a statement that “our top priority” is the safety of the public and the work crews. “We are continuing to investigate this situation and will take any corrective measures that may be necessary as quickly as possible,” he said.
