Rain runoff prompts brown water warnings
The state Department of Health has issued brown water advisories for Oahu and three areas of Maui.
The department issued the brown water advisory for Oahu on Monday due to heavy rain.
The advisories are issued to warn the public about flood and storm water that may contain overflows from cesspools and sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and flood debris.
The department said that if the water is brown, stay out of it.
On Maui, brown water advisories were issued Wednesday for Kahana, Honokahua and Honolua Bay.
