A high-surf advisory is in effect for north and west shores statewide through
6 p.m. today.
National Weather Service officials said waves on north shores would reach 14 to
18 feet on Wednesday night and drop to between 10 and 15 feet today.
On west shores, surf is expected to reach heights of
8 to 12 feet. Officials said the surf will gradually decline on Wednesday night and on Thursday.
Rip currents will make swimming difficult and dangerous, and beachgoers are advised to exercise caution when near the shoreline, officials said.
Meanwhile, a convergence band from an old front will bring clouds and light showers to Kauai today, the weather service said. Tradewinds will push any showers to the windward slopes.
Fresh winds will weaken to moderate breezes on Friday. Dry and stable weather will continue through next week, the weather service said.
