Officer hurt by alleged attack
A 22-year-old Waialua woman is in police custody for allegedly attacking and injuring a police officer at the Queen’s Medical Center, where she had been taken for treatment Tuesday.
Police said the suspect was in custody when she allegedly assaulted a 37-year-old female police officer. The officer was treated and released following the 1 p.m. incident.
The suspect had been arrested for on suspicion of trespassing at Mililani Shopping Center on Tuesday. Police did not say why the suspect was taken to the hospital.
The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer.
Suspected burglar arrested
Police conducting surveillance of a Kaneohe business area Wednesday detected a man allegedly climbing over a fence and into the lot of a business that was closed.
The man was seen at about 1:20 a.m., and while officers searched for the suspect, an alarm sounded at a neighboring business.
Police surrounded the business, and while searching they found a 27-year-old man with no local address and arrested him at 1:40 a.m. at City Mill, 46-209 Kahuhipa St., on suspicion of second-degree burglary.

Kau man dies after crashing ATV near beach
A 63-year-old Kau man was killed Wednesday while driving an all-terrain vehicle near Green Sand Beach on Hawaii island.
Hawaii County police identified the victim as Keith J. Leonatti of Naalehu.
Leonatti was driving his ATV at noon on a private four-wheel-drive gravel road near Green Sand Beach in Kau and failed to meet family members at the beach. At 12:41 p.m. family members found him unresponsive and trappedbeneath the ATV.
Leonatti died at Hilo Medical Center at 8:09 p.m.
An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
Because this crash involved an ATV on private property, it is not counted as a traffic fatality, police said.
