Ice in the desert: This year again, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has put up an ice skating rink in the pool area overlooking the Strip. The rink operates from 3 p.m. to midnight weekdays and noon to midnight Saturdays and Sundays through Jan. 4. All-day access is available for $15. A second rink is operating on the far west side of town in the Downtown Summerlin shopping district located next to Red Rock Resort.
Nog: Ellis Island’s holiday egg nog is now available. This is the 13th straight year that the nog has been mixed and sold from the bar at the casino (contains alcohol).
The price is the same as last year: $6 per glass and $30 per bottle.
Question: Is it still possible to get rooms for New Year’s Eve?
Answer: Yes. In a check of 92 hotel-casinos late last month, 69 had rooms available.
The lowest-priced room for New Year’s Eve was at the Lucky Club ($140), and other good deals were found in two-night packages at South Point for $220, the Downtown Grand or Four Queens for $338 and Treasure Island for $493. The most expensive rooms were at the Mandarin Oriental for $829.
