A sterling silver “Aloha” necklace by Jewelry by Justine.

Say it in silver with delicate necklaces

Dainty, simple, yet full of character, this sterling- silver “Aloha” necklace by Jewelry by Justine showcases the aloha spirit in a subtle way. The necklace ($75) comes with a 1 1/2-inch charm on a 16-inch chain that pairs easily with a flowy maxidress or a pair of jeans and V-neck T-shirt. Snag one at Owens & Co., 1152 Nuuanu Ave.

Hawaii-flavored holiday treats for dogs

With feasts and holiday parties taking up more of your time, you may be feeling sorry for Fido. But Ilio Pet Products’ Luau Flavored Rawhides let your pooch join the fun without feeding off the buffet line. I’m sending these treats that I picked up at the Kahala Mall Longs for $4.99 to my sister on the mainland for my four-legged “nephew.” The rawhides come in a pack of two large or four small pieces (both 180 grams) in various local flavors, including kalua pork, pipikaula, haupia cream and chicken long rice.

Bright, flowy styles in wide range of sizes

She’ll feel light and bright as a bird in the I‘iwi blouse by Lauwa‘e with its pink flowers and blue stars, cutout shoulders and flowing asymmetrical hem ($60). The tops, along with cute rompers, maxi dresses and other styles in sizes from XS to 2X, are designed and sewn in Honolulu; the floaty rayon fabric is hand-painted in Indonesia. Sisters-in-law Kai‘ulu and Nalani Downing founded the line, for which Kai‘ulu’s brother Keone hand-draws the fabric patterns. Lauwa‘e is named for their late mother; their father is surf pioneer George Downing. At Downing Hawaii, 3021 Waialae Ave.; call 737-9696 or visit lauwae.com.

Colorful carriers hold water bottles in style

Whether you stay hydrated via Hydroflask or bkr, the water bottle is everyone’s must-have accessory. Yet, every once in a while, we all get caught with a plain old water bottle, and we just don’t want to be seen with plastic. For those times, it’s great to have a water bottle carrier on hand. Colorful Hawaiian quilted styles solve that dilemma and as gifts are a nice way of saying “aloha” to friends around the globe.

They’re $26.95 at Royal Hawaiian Quilt at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and at The Hawaiian Quilt Collection at Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Ala Moana Center and Waikiki Beach Walk.

Multifunctional pouches are cute and practical

It’s not unusual for moms-on-the-go to zip from work to school to the soccer field to the supermarket in a single afternoon. Practical accessories help streamline the process of moving from one task to the next, keeping Mom organized and, in this case, fashionable. David Liao, owner of Unik Gifts and Things, designs lightweight bags in various sizes, styles and prints. This one, a mini zippered pouch ($25), converts from wristlet to crossbody bag. A pouch with a snap closure is perfect for keys and a cellphone, and one of the two zippered compartments is clear to keep identification easily visible for school pickups. Liao shows his inventory by appointment at Kaimuki Hawaii Self Storage, 2909 Waialae Ave. Call 554-7888 or email davidhliao168@yahoo.com.
