If there’s anything to be learned from the just-concluded season of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, it might be that it takes more than one individual, no matter how talented he or she might be, to make a team successful.
The Titans, of course, picked former Saint Louis School and University of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota as the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft, hoping to turn around its fortunes from the previous season when it was the second-worst team in the 32-team league.
But that didn’t happen. In fact, the Titans finished this past season as the worst team in the league, and Mariota now is just hoping things will turn out better after the recent firings of team executives and coaches who played roles in bringing him to the team in the first place.
A treasure trove of Don Ho media
About this time next year, Don Ho fans likely will be able to access about 6,000 videotapes, films and audio recordings that are now being archived at the University of Hawaii-West Oahu.
The university’s ‘Ulu‘ulu Henry Ku‘ualoha Giugni Moving Image Archive of Hawai‘i recently acquired the complete collection of Hawaii’s most famous entertainer’s personal memorabilia from the Donald Tai Loy Ho Trust.
UH-West Oahu will catalog and digitize the media and eventually make the files available for streaming online.
Among the gems: recordings of the “The Don Ho Show” which aired daily on ABC TV from 1976 to 1977.
