Hawaii County police charged a 29-year-old Keaau man Thursday in connection with a pair of robberies in Hilo.
According to police, Dustin Faris entered a vehicle in a parking lot and ordered the 19-year-old male driver to go to two different stores to withdraw cash from ATMs on Thursday morning.
Police arrested Faris outside the second store.
Faris was charged with second-degree robbery and first-degree unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle. His bail was set at $7,000.
Alleged truant arrested for assaulting police
A 16-year-old girl, who was stopped in Chinatown on Thursday afternoon because she was suspected of being a truant, now faces charges of assaulting several police officers and possessing drugs.
Police said the girl was being questioned by several female police officers just after 1:10 p.m. when she allegedly assaulted them.
The suspect was taken to the police station where a marijuana pipe with residue was found on her. She was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault on a police officer, two counts of harassing a police officer, second-degree assault and third-degree promoting a detrimental drug. She was released pending further investigation.
Kalihi woman charged in McCully robbery
Prosecutors on Thursday charged a 27-year-old Kalihi woman with second-degree robbery of a McCully business.
Police said Monika Amatus allegedly took property from the business at 9:20 p.m. Dec. 13 when she was confronted by an employee of the business.
The woman then used force against the 52-year-old male employee to get away, police said. She was later identified, and police arrested her at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
