Whether you like your food raw or strive to fill your bento container with more than leftovers, cooking classes will help hone your skills. Here are a few to kick off the year:
>> Greens & Vines’ Sylvia Thompson holds an “un-cooking class” featuring her signature lasagna, noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Fee: $65. Reservations required. Call 536-9680.
>> Down to Earth’s Honolulu store hosts a “Raw Cooking Weekend,” noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s lineup: un-meatballs, zucchini and pasta. Sunday: raw bread and burgers.

>> Kapiolani Community College’s 2016 noncredit public cooking classes begin 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 23 with Brown Baggin’ It, featuring creative lunch recipes. Think quinoa chicken with white beans or spicy carrot salad with shrimp.

Fruit lovers can share bounty
