It may be as sunless as the dark side of the moon, but starting Saturday local Pink Floyd fans won’t be having a momentary lapse of reason if they’re up at 6 a.m. and tuned to radio station KORL, 101.5 FM.

They’ll be hearing the Hawaii debut of “Floydian Slip,” a weekly “hourlong journey through the music of Pink Floyd,” according to Craig Bailey, host of the 25-year-old show.

“We play everything from the group, no matter how obscure, including solo works from all its members. And, most shows, we’ll throw in a ‘Floydian Slip-Up,’ which is a track not by Floyd but somehow connected,” said Bailey in an email.

Saturday’s program revolves around the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as “a demo from ‘The Wall’ and a rare live cut from ’72,” added Bailey, who lives in Shelburne, Vt.

He said he was drawn to Pink Floyd, which he first thought was one person, because “they’re enigmatic. It plays with your head.” For more info, go to floydianslip.com. — Star-Advertiser staff

They also have a Pink Floyd laser show at Bishop Museum.

Dark Side of the Moon, one of the greatest albums in rock history, was released when fans would get together with friends and listen to an entire album in one sitting. The songs on Dark Side were produced to run seamlessly from one track to the next. It was designed to take listeners on an extended sonic roller coaster ride. KORL may or may not honor that format, but Pink Floyd’s music is good any way you get it.

So true BluesBreaker, and “The Wall” was another example of that but on steroids! Their wall concert would begin with life size bricks being built up in front of them on stage until by the end of the two hour concert you could not see the band. Really creative genius in those days…..now all we get are half naked bimbos with dance troops!

Yup. Even the Millenialls rather have our, boomer music, than their own music.
