The OIA girls soccer championship will stay out West.
Pearl City beat Castle 2-0 and Mililani beat Moanalua 6-1 in the semifinals at Kapolei on Thursday night, setting up Saturday night’s clash between the Chargers and Trojans.
Pearl City, which has not lost in 12 matches this year, blitzed the Knights with goals by Randi Fontes and Sunshine Fontes in the first five minutes before turning the match over to its defense. The Chargers pitched their seventh shutout of the season and held Castle scoreless for just the second time this year.
Mililani failed to earn its seventh shutout of the year, but it hardly needed it. Kelci Sumidan scored for Moanalua, but the Trojans got two goals each from Kailana Kaeo and UH signee Tia Furuta. Tehani Furuta and Tayzha Furuta also scored, making it a family affair for Mililani.
Mililani and Pearl City will play for the OIA championship Saturday night at 6:30 at Kapolei. The Chargers last won the league in 2014 and Mililani took it the year before. Western Division schools have won in 14 of the last 15 years, with Moanalua the lone holdout in 2012.
Pearl City dealt Mililani its only loss this season, beating the Trojans 3-2 at Mililani in December. Kalaheo and Waialua will play for the OIA Division II title before the Division I game.
