A two-match split with then-No. 1 UCLA last week helped the Hawaii men’s volleyball team move up a spot in Monday’s AVCA Division I-II Top 15.
The Rainbow Warriors (9-2, 4-2 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) traded places with defending national champion Loyola-Chicago, moving to No. 4 while the Ramblers (7-2, 2-0 MIVA) dropped to No. 5.
Long Beach State (9-2, 6-2 MPSF) replaced UCLA (11-1, 7-1 MPSF) in the top spot, the 49ers edging the Bruins on points 288-287 despite fewer first-place votes. Long Beach State had nine votes to UCLA’s 11.
BYU (8-2, 6-2 MPSF) remained at No. 3. Rounding out the top 10 were Stanford (8-2, 6-2 MPSF), Penn State (6-2, 1-0 EIVA), Pepperdine (6-3, 5-3 MPSF), Ohio State (8-3, 3-1 MIVA) and UC Santa Barbara (8-5, 4-4 MPSF).
