FoodCorps seeks educators for youth
If you’re passionate about improving our food system and teaching the next generation how to eat well, a job with FoodCorps Hawaii might be for you.
FoodCorps is recruiting people to teach youth about “what healthy food is, where it comes from, and expanding hands-on nutrition education” for 11 months during the 2016-17 academic year. The national organization operates in 17 states and the District of Columbia to address childhood obesity and food insecurity in underserved communities. In Hawaii the Kohala Center on Hawaii island serves as host site.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Deadline to apply is March 31.
Selected members will work full time for 11 months and receive a stipend plus basic health, vision and dental insurance. An education award will go to those who complete 1,700 hours of service, to assist in paying for tuition or student loans.
The Kohala Center is an independent, community-based center for research, conservation and education that applies research and ancestral knowledge to help isle communities with economic, ecological, cultural and social development.
