Salim Gloyd finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds and Nate Walker added 25 points as Hawaii Hilo rallied past Chaminade 101-99 in a PacWest men’s basketball game on Saturday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
The Silverswords (10-14, 8-9) took a 77-63 lead midway through the second half on a 3-pointer by Kiran Shastri.
The Vulcans (6-14, 6-10 PacWest) came back to take a 98-91 advantage on a free throw by Vandyon Lockett with 41 seconds remaining.
Chaminade’s Sam Daly missed a shot with two seconds left and Hilo’s Ryan Reyes grabbed the rebound to preserve the victory.
Kuany Kuany scored 26 points, and Kevin Hu and Shastri each added 14 for the Silverswords.

HPU women beat Notre Dame de Namur
Breanna Mackenzie tied her career high with 29 points as Hawaii Pacific edged Notre Dame de Namur 67-63 on Saturday in a PacWest women’s basketball game at Moanalua High School.
Janessa Manzano added 15 points and Aminata Cole had 13 rebounds for the Sharks (15-9, 12-5 PacWest).
Kirsten Liana, a Farrington graduate, finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Konawaena graduate Lindsay Bates also scored 19 points for the Argonauts (3-21, 2-14).

Vulcans win pair at Red Storm Classic
Hawaii Hilo defeated Western Oregon and Western New Mexico at the Red Storm Softball Classic on Saturday in St. George, Utah.
Danielle Wilson pitched four scoreless innings and Cristina Menjivar drove in three runs in the Vulcans’ 9-2 victory over the Wolves (2-4).
In the second game, Billi Derleth pitched a four-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts and Victoria Garcia hit a two-run homer for the Vulcans (7-5) in the 3-0 win over the Mustangs (3-10).

In the second game, Jackie Schmaeling and Alyssa French each drove in two runs in Saint Martin’s 5-2 victory.
Passi blasted a two-run homer for Chaminade (1-3) against the Saints (7-1).
HPU baseball takes pair from St. Leo
Nolan Barraza drove in three runs and Keola Himan tripled, homered and drove in two runs as Hawaii Pacific beat St. Leo (Fla.) 9-6 to sweep a nonconference baseball doubleheader Saturday at Hans L’Orange Park.
Troy Sieber scored three runs and drove in a pair for the Lions (3-4).
In the opener, Steven Camberos hit a two-run homer and Barraza belted a solo shot for the Sharks (4-0) in a 3-2 victory.
Vulcans women beat Chaminade in tennis
The Hawaii Hilo women’s tennis team defeated Chaminade 7-2 in a match Saturday at the BYU-Hawaii courts.
Kinsley Volkart, Chelsea Sato, Anne Carsey, Shanise Kaaikala and Megan Fujitake each won singles matches for the Vulcans.
Hilo’s Volkart/Kaaikala and Fujitake/Carsey won doubles matches. Chaminade’s Kimberly Takara won a singles match and in doubles with partner Kauanoe Beamer.
The Vulcans improved to 2-0, while the Silverswords fell to 0-2.
