To avoid being left behind in Las Vegas’ burgeoning high-end shopping scene, Wynn Las Vegas is adding a new retail component that will be called Wynn Plaza.
Slated to open in the fall of 2017, the two-story, 75,000-square-foot mall will feature Parisian-inspired styling with a glassed-roof atrium and a colored walkway leading in from the Strip.
The retail mix will include high-end stores, restaurants, bars and “interactive and experiential opportunities.” The complex will occupy space freed up by the closing of the Ferrari store and the relocation of the poker room to Encore.
Anchor’s away: After less than a year, Anchor Bar, famous for creating Buffalo-style chicken wings, has closed at the Venetian. The location in the corner of the second-floor food court never felt right, and the owners say that a new Las Vegas venue is being sought.
Orleans eats: Two new restaurants have opened at the Orleans. Adler & Birch Cocktails and Fine Dining and Ondori Asian Kitchen are part of a major restaurant overhaul underway at several Boyd properties. New eateries are also in store for Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town and the California.
Popular park: A 5 percent increase in visitation at Lake Mead National Recreation Area pushed it to the fifth spot on the list of most visited National Park Services sites in 2015. Finishing ahead of Lake Mead and its 7.2 million visitors were Blue Ridge Parkway (15 million), Golden Gate National Recreation Area (14.9 million), Great Smoky Mountains National Park (10.7 million) and the Lincoln Memorial (7.9 million). Grand Canyon National Park was 10th with 5.5 million visitors.
