A 63-year-old man was in critical condition Friday after a near-drowning incident in waters fronting the Sheraton-Waikiki Hotel.
According to an Emergency Medical Services report, the man had been surfing at the “Paradise” surf spot.
It is not known what prompted the rescue, but fellow surfers and the crew of a catamaran brought the man to shore about 4:50 p.m.
Lifeguards from the nearest lifeguard station 600 yards away performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to Emergency Medical Services.
Pedestrian injured in McCully crash
A 70-year-old woman was critically injured Friday evening when she was struck by a car on South King Street near Hauoli Street.
The woman was given advanced trauma care by paramedics at the scene and transported to a hospital.
