A 75-year old Honolulu woman died Friday night after being struck by a car while crossing King Street near McCully, the Honolulu Police Department said.
The woman was in a crosswalk at 7:09 p.m. when she was hit by a 90-year-old Honolulu woman driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz traveling eastbound near Hauoli Street.
The 75-year-old woman was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she later died.
It’s unknown if excessive speed was a factor in the collision, police said.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors.
This is the seventh traffic fatality this year, compared to 11 at the same time last year.
Police seek suspect in Waipahu stabbing
Police are looking for a 28-year-old man who stabbed his friend at an apartment complex Saturday in Waipahu.
The suspect and the victim, a 38-year-old man, were drinking Friday night and got into an argument about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 94-500 block of Farrington Highway. The younger man stabbed the other man with a sharp object in the left side of the torso and fled, police said.
He remained at large Saturday afternoon. The victim was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition.
Police opened a second-degree attempted murder investigation.
Olomana Trail fall seriously injures hiker
A 22-year-old man was in serious condition Saturday after falling about 100 feet off Olomana Trail, authorities said.
The man was hiking about 10 a.m. when he fell from the third peak of the Windward Oahu trail, the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said. Paramedics treated the man and transported him to a trauma center.
Several people have died after falling off the steep trail. Last June a 53-year-old man died after he fell about 200 feet off the trail between the first and second peaks.
