The BYU-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific softball teams split a doubleheader on Saturday at Howard A. Okita Field.
The Seasiders edged the Sharks in game one by a score of 5-4. After being down 5-1 in the fifth inning, HPU’s rally fell short in the bottom of the seventh.
HPU starter Paige Crawford tossed a complete-game five-hit shutout to give the Sharks a 7-0 victory in game two, despite not striking out any batters and walking two.
After the twinbill, HPU is sitting at 11-17 and 7-9 in the PacWest. BYU-Hawaii is 9-19 and 5-13 in conference play.
WSL to hold event on North Shore
The World Surf League Junior Pipe Pro and the Wahine Pipe Pro will start on Monday at 8 a.m. in Haleiwa.
Headlining the event are Maui natives Noah Hill and Summer Macedo. Both are coming off wins at the Papara Pro Junior and Papara Vahine Pro Juniors in Tahiti.
Robbs to speak at Quarterback Club
University of Hawaii baseball play-by-play announcer Don Robbs will be at the Honolulu Quarterback Club on Monday.
Robbs is retiring at the end of the season after 40 years in the booth. Robbs will be speaking at the Maple Garden Restaurant. Parking is free and the event is open to the public. Lunch costs $16 per person and will start at 11:30 a.m. The program begins at noon.
