Nearly 1,000 Bank of Hawaii employees raised $111,780 to be divided among three beneficiaries during the 10th annual Bank of Hawaii Live Kokua Community Walk on Saturday morning at Kapiolani Park.
Employees and their families participated in the walk.
The beneficiaries were:
>> The Youth Suicide and Bullying Project, Mental Health America of Hawaii, which provides education and advocacy about how to identify, intervene and get help for depression, suicide and bullying.
>> YO! (Youth Outreach) Program, Waikiki Health and Hale Kipa partnership, which is a safe haven for homeless youth, offering meals, showers, medical services, counseling, employment and housing assistance.
>> Homebase Transitional Housing at Fernhurst Program, YWCA of Oahu, which provides housing and services for homeless employed women, including women who complete the Ka Hale Ho‘ala Hou No na Wahine work furlough program.
Since the inception of the community walk in 2007, Bank of Hawaii employees have raised more than $1.1 million, benefiting 28 local organizations. Including the bank’s neighbor island and West Pacific locations, each of which participate in walks on their respective islands, Bank of Hawaii employees have raised more than $1.4 million for 65 nonprofits.
