Twelve public school principals have been nominated for the 2016 Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award, which is sponsored by Island Insurance Foundation.
Each nominee received a $1,000 cash award and commemorative plaque at a gathering Saturday at Island Insurance Center. The award is named after the founder of Island Insurance Co.
The winner will be announced April 21 at the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation banquet. That principal will receive $25,000, including $15,000 to be designated toward a school project.
