Nineteen home matches, including three Pac-12 opponents and Wisconsin’s first visit to Honolulu since 1993, highlight the upcoming schedule for the Hawaii women’s volleyball team.
The Rainbow Wahine open the season with three consecutive tournaments and two nonconference matches against Pepperdine, which is coached by former Hawaii associate head coach Scott Wong. The Wahine begin their Big West title defense on the road at UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 23.
Dave Shoji enters his 42nd season as the second winningest coach in Division I (1,179-198-1). Hawaii went 29-2 last year, reaching the NCAA regional final before losing to Minnesota in four sets with a final rank of No. 7.
The schedule has three opponents ranked in the final poll in No. 6 Washington, No. 10 Wisconsin and No. 12 UCLA. Hawaii and UCLA have played every season since the Wahine program’s inception in 1974.
