Matt LoCoco’s production at the top of the lineup ignited the Rainbow Warrior baseball team’s series win to open the Big West schedule.
The senior center fielder hit .462 (6-for-13) with two doubles and drove in four runs to help UH take the two of three games in last week’s series against UC Irvine and the ‘Bows hit .340 as a team.
LoCoco ignited an 11-hit UH attack in the series opener with a leadoff single in the first inning and gave the Rainbows a late cushion with a three-run double in the eighth in UH’s 8-4 win last Friday. The victory was the program’s first against the Anteaters since joining the Big West.

He doubled again and the Rainbows claimed the series with an 8-5 victory and went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday’s 14-4 loss.
LoCoco raised his batting average to .278 overall and leads the Rainbows with 18 runs scored, 22 walks, three triples and two home runs.
The Rainbows (13-15, 2-1) have won seven of their last 10 heading into a three-game series at UC Davis (7-15, 1-2) starting Friday in Northern California.
