The No. 4 Hawaii water polo team lost its first Big West match of the season, falling 7-5 to No. 14 UCSB in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Sunday.
UCSB (14-11, 2-1) outscored Hawaii (18-6, 3-1) 3-1 in the third quarter to pull away. Bryn Hudson scored two goals in the win. Femke Aan led the Rainbow Wahine with two goals.
HPU sweeps UH Hilo
The Hawaii Pacific baseball team swept Hawaii Hilo in a doubleheader on Sunday in Hans L’Orange Park.
HPU won the first game 7-6 on Bronson Aiwohi’s sacrifice fly that scored Austin Inabata from third base in the 10th inning. Aiwohi finished with four hits and Nolan Barraza had three doubles.
Tanner Tokunaga and Robert Farm each had two hits to lead the Sharks to a 4-1 win in game two. Pitcher Robert Bonilla earned the win in relief in game one and picked up his 10th save of the season in game two. HPU improved to 26-12 while UH Hilo is 4-25.
Entries sought for Hawaii’s Fastest Human
Registration is open for Hawaii’s Fastest Human, a 100-meter sprint to be held on Saturday. The sprint will be held at the annual Punahou Invitational track meet.
Trials start at 9:30 a.m. and finals are at 1 p.m. For more information, contact meet director Doug Kilpatrick at 286-1423.
