Hawaii heads into the volleyball postseason with a starting lineup dotted with all-conference players. Senior hitter Siki Zarkovic, senior libero Kolby Kanetake and freshman opposite Stijn van Tilburg all were honored by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation on Thursday.
Zarkovic was named to the first team, the 16th Rainbow Warrior to be so honored. A second-team selection as a junior and honorable mention as a freshman, the Serbian national is third in the MPSF in kills (4.07 kps).
Kanetake, a repeat second-team selection, is second in the MPSF and 15th nationally in dig average (2.34 dps). The Moanalua High graduate is third on the UH career dig list with 772 and sixth in dig average (2.34 dps).
Van Tilburg was selected to both the all-freshman team and honorable mention. The Dutch national leads the Warriors with 18 aces and has reached double-figure kills 18 times.
Two island prep products were also honored. UCLA setter Micah Ma’a was named to the all-freshman team and was first team All-MPSF. Stanford libero Evan Enriques was named to the second team.
Stanford senior setter James Shaw was chosen player of the year, the first setter chosen for the top honor since Pepperdine’s Jonathan Winder in 2007. Long Beach State hitter TJ DeFalco was named freshman of the year.
